USC Viterbi spotlights Bin Han, PhD. student in Computer Science and Graduate Student Research Assistant at ICT’s Affective Computing Lab.
Han recently completed an internship at Apple as a Machine Learning Engineer, and her latest research explores how AI and large language models can adapt social traits like extroversion. Her work—soon to be presented at IVA 2025 in Berlin—points to new possibilities for human–AI interaction across many fields.
“There has been a lot of advancement recently in artificial intelligence technology, but I think we still have room to improve for emotional intelligence,” Han said. “I want to contribute to that domain to make AI more socially intelligent and understand users’ emotions better.”
