GFY25: ICT Achievements

Published: October 1, 2025
Category: News

The Government Fiscal Year 2025 (October 1, 2024 – September 30, 2025) represents a productive year across ICT’s 17 Labs.

Our researchers published 98 papers, plus 11 collaborative publications with Army Research Lab (ARL) / other DoD partners, and delivered 22 keynote and invited talks, most notably: Dr. Paul Graham on the State of AI in the MS&T Industry Panel, Congressional Modeling and Simulation Leadership Summit, Dr. Gale Lucas at MIT CSAIL, Dr. Jonathan Gratch at Goldsmiths, University of London, and Dr. Leslie Saxon at the Apple Health Research Summit.

Notable recognition included Dr. Albert “Skip” Rizzo’s induction into the XR Hall of Fame, Sharon Mozgai’s Patriot Award from the U.S. Department of Defense, and a Gold Medal for the Vision and Graphics Lab, led by Dr. Yajie Zhao, at CVPR’s Image Matching Challenge. Dr. David Traum advanced to Editor-in-Chief of Dialogue and Discourse, building on his 16-year tenure with the journal.

This past year, ICT’s research has been translated into practical applications through 5 invention disclosures and 5 technology transitions, including the Battle Buddy license to Soldier Strong Foundation

These accomplishments reflect ongoing work in virtual reality healthcare applications, affective computing, human-AI interaction, computer vision, and intelligent virtual agents, while maintaining collaborative ties with military, academic, and industry partners.
