Dean Yannis C. Yortsos, Dean of the USC Viterbi School of Engineering, delivered the annual State of the School address yesterday at the Dr. Allen and Charlotte Ginsburg Human-Centered Computation Hall. Staff and researchers from the Institute for Creative Technologies (ICT) were in attendance as Dean Yortsos spotlighted ICT’s recent achievements.

ICT highlights for State of the School address by Dean Yortsos

Among the highlights were award-winning research papers presented at ECCV, CVPR, TMLR, and ICCV, including a Best Paper honor at the 32nd IEEE VR & 3D UI. He also noted ICT’s strong talent pipeline, with nearly 700 interns over the past two decades and graduate research assistants going on to roles at Meta, Google, and Samsung.

ICT’s impact extends beyond research: 617 VIP visitors this past year included military leaders, LA28, Disney, the Grammys, and members of the U.S. Congress. The institute’s innovations are also shaping the future, from the Navy’s Sea Strike 2043 film to military training, where ICT’s ELITE program has certified more than 3,000 soldiers and civilians.

ICT’s work has drawn broad attention, featured in outlets such as Fox News, Army AL&T, National Defense, and The Atlantic.
