USC’s alumni magazine featured Mark Bolas and his open-door, open-source philosophy towards helping people create new virtual reality technologies and immserive experiences
“I believe a big part of my job is helping to develop amazing people,” he says.
The story notes that Bolas hired Palmer Luckey, whose virtual reality company Oculus Rift was purchased by Facebook for $2 billion.
Today, Bolas makes sure that the Mixed Reality Lab’s doors are open
to students of all backgrounds. Humanists, social scientists and artists “aren’t preoccupied with the limitations of technology,” he says. “We take technology, push it to the edge of its limitations and, hopefully, break it.”
