The Telegraph (U.K.) highlighted research by Skip Rizzo of the USC Institute for Creative Technologies about the use of virtual reality in the treatment of PTSD. Rizzo’s systems have been used to treat more than 2,000 veterans and are being tailored to treat other kinds of trauma, including terrorist attacks. “Essentially, it helps the patient repeatedly confront and process very difficult emotional memories, while they narrate the scene they experienced in real life,” Rizzo said.
