Dr. Randall Hill, Vice Dean, Viterbi School of Engineering, Omar B. Milligan Professor in Computer Science (Games and Interactive Media), Executive Director, ICT, announced today that Shereen Lanzarotta has been promoted to Office Manager, ICT.

“In her new role, Shereen Lanzarotta will take responsibility for overseeing all Administrative staff, as well as working closely alongside ICT’s Facilities, HR, IT and Legal departments, to ensure the smooth running of the Institute for Creative Technologies,” Dr. Hill confirmed. “We are proud to promote staff from within ICT into greater roles and responsibilities. Shereen has been a stalwart of the institute from 2009, and I am grateful that she will continue to act as Executive Assistant to both myself, and Dr. William Swartout, ICT’s Chief Science Officer, while also taking on this well-deserved promotion.”

Shereen Lanzarotta joined USC in 2009, after working for the drinking water engineering firm (McGuire Environmental Consultants / Malcolm Pirnie) for 15 years. Previously, Shereen provided administrative support at the J. Paul Getty Trust, where she was able to draw on her studies in Art History from Gonzaga University’s study abroad program in Florence, Italy. During that time, she also engaged with one of the first ever personal word processors (an IBM Displaywriter System, for the record). While at the Getty, she worked for their first IT department, the Art History Information Program, and, later, the Building Program, which oversaw the construction of the Getty Center in the Santa Monica Mountains.

“I am looking forward to taking on the newly-created role of Office Manager,” said Shereen Lanzarotta. “ICT is an amazing place to work–I feel fortunate to have found myself in the midst of such an inspiring, committed group of people. In the past 15 years I’ve been able to see many of the projects while they are being developed. Early on, I had the opportunity to be a test subject for Gunslinger, the interactive entertainment application which was housed in the McConnell space at that time. I couldn’t believe that experience was just another day for those of us working here at ICT.”

This promotion will take place with immediate effect.
