The University of Southern California (USC) Institute for Creative Technologies has developed “virtual humans” that look, move, and speak like real humans, albeit on large screens. These virtual humans employ MBE science and ITS technology to create learning experiences in schools, museums, and medical research facilities. Virtual humans “add a rich social dimension to computer interaction,” answering questions at any time of day so students never feel completely stuck.
