ICT Develops Virtual Human Role Players for New Military Training Prototype

The U.S. Joint Forces Command posted an article about the Future Immersive Training Environment (FITE), a new virtual reality-based training system to improve team decision-making skills through realistic scenarios that has been installed at Camp Pendleton.  Julia Kim, an ICT project director, explained ICT’s mixed reality portion of the system, called the Combat Hunter Action and Observation Simulation (CHAOS). Inside an area of the simulated village, soldiers encounter two virtual personalities: an Afghan adult named Omar and his mother.
“We’re bringing this technology together with Hollywood, creating an experience that augments what the virtual role players do,” Kim said.
