An article in the Daily Beast featured ICT’s virtual reality exposure therapy, calling it, “one of the most promising therapeutic tools for treating veterans’ PTSD”, and noted that it is the most-widely “virtual reality exposure therapy” treatment program in America. The story also cited results of several studies noting the effectiveness of virtual reality exposure therapy for treating post-traumatic stress.
“If we ask what effects the military’s contribution to videogames will have on society at large, it is increasingly clear that one of the areas of greatest influence will be the field of mental health,” said author Cory Meade, whose recently published book War Play: Video Games and the Future of Armed Conflict, which includes the work of Skip Rizzo and ICT’s Medical Virtual Reality Lab.
