The Wall Street Journal highlighted research by Gale Lucas of the USC Institute for Creative Technologies on the downsides of “grit.” Individuals with high degrees of persistence, or grit, sometimes keep trying to succeed in the same ways rather than seeking alternatives. This applies especially to corporate executives. “The true risk for gritty executives is that they don’t consider alternative means to the goal,” Lucas said.
