Army Tests New Training Platform

A technology called “One World Terrain” will help soldiers train virtually on 3D battlefields that replicate real locations. The Army recently conducted user assessments of the technology with soldiers from the 1st Infantry Division out of Fort Riley, Kansas, according to a service release. The testers assessed the database of 3D environments and tested out a management tool and software that can tie different simulation platforms together. Soldier feedback will assist in development of the training system, which is set to reach initial operational capability before the end of fiscal 2021, and full operational capability in fiscal 2023. Three Army divisions and 24 Marine Corps battalions are already using One World Terrain.
