3D World Magazine has named Paul Debevec, ICT’s associate director for graphics research, as one of the seven most important pioneers in the history of computer graphics imagery. The article credits Debevec for developing many of the techniques behind high dynamic range imaging and image based lighting and mentions his current research on face scanning and 3D teleconferencing. The other innovators on the list are George Lucas, Edwin Catmull, Jim Blinn, John Whitney Sr., Chris Landreth and Benoît Mandelbrot.
