Todd Richmond, the director of advanced prototype development at University of Southern California’s Institute for Creative Technologies told MarketWatch’s Jennifer Booton “augmented reality will impact all verticals in all aspects of life—but right now virtual reality is the shiny object.” I beg to differ — augmented reality may be underdeveloped as an industry but AR is the real shiny new object here. Expect to see a whole slew of augmented reality games by the end of this year, and I’m even willing to bet one of those first new augmented reality games will show up on Facebook sans the glasses.
