Research Lead: David Traum

The ICT Dialogue Group computationally analyzes human dialogue, develops computational models of dialogue, and builds and evaluates dialogue systems and dialogue components for integrated Virtual Humans and Robots systems to interact with people.

The group has research and development expertise in a range of enabling areas, including dialogue systems, spoken and natural language understanding, dialogue management, natural language generation, speech synthesis, and evaluation of dialogue systems.

A long-term focus has been on developing automated human-like role-play characters for simulation and training of communication-related skills.
