Kalin Stefanov is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar at University of Southern California's Institute for Creative Technologies.

He received the MSc degree in Artificial Intelligence from University of Amsterdam (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) and the PhD degree in Computer Science from KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm, Sweden). During his PhD studies he was a Visiting Research Scholar at University of Southern California's Institute for Creative Technologies (Los Angeles, USA) and at National Institute of Informatics's Computer Vision and Discrete Geometry Group (Tokyo, Japan). During his PhD studies he was also teaching and supervising in several undergraduate and graduate level courses (e.g. Machine Learning, Digital Signal Processing, Speech and Speaker Recognition) at KTH Royal Institute of Technology.

His research interests are related to perception and production of human communicative behavior. The motivation for his research is the fact that machines which can understand human communicative behavior and can produce human-like communicative behavior, are relevant for a wide range of scenarios, including social robotics for healthcare, education and entertainment. His personal interests are related to the great outdoors where he exploits the elements through kitesurfing, rock climbing and skiing.
