MIT Technology Review Quotes Mark Bolas on Real-World Objects in Virtual Worlds

August 26, 2015

MIT Technology Review quoted Mark Bolas of the USC Institute for Creative Technologies about the interplay between virtual reality environments and real-world objects.

Bolas, an associate professor at the University of Southern California and director of mixed reality research at its Institute for Creative Technologies, says such intersections of real-world objects with virtual reality are “grounding moments,” making it more likely that people will believe that the virtual experience is real.

“Every time you have one of those you let go of the real world a little bit more,” he says.
