Mixed Reality Virtual Humans
Project Description
This intern project involves building and driving virtual characters for immersive environments. These characters would be used to study behaviors elicited in immersive “human to virtual human” interaction experiments. The artist interns would construct new characters that share common animation rigs and exemplify best ICT mixed reality lab practices for modeling and texturing. These characters would be designed to be pertinent to the subjects and projects that are dealt with across ICT; US soldiers, Iraqi and Afghan civilians, western outlaws, etc. Furthermore, there is a need to collect various types of motion capture data and apply the data to those characters in both real time and off line modes.
Job Description
• Model, texture and rig virtual human characters.
• Streamline and test the motion capture process pipeline.
• Apply real time and recorded motion capture data to a rigged virtual human character.
• Archive motion capture data into the libraries of animation assets for reuse on ICT common animation rigs.
Qualifications:
• Required software knowledge: Maya, Photoshop.
• Strong modeling and texturing skills based on real world reference material.
• Strong familiarity with laying out UV texture coordinates and solid character animation skills.
• Motion capture experience and experience with game engines is a plus (Gamebryo, Panda3D, OGRE).
• Portfolio required.
