Mixed Reality Redirected Walking
Project Description
In the Mixed Reality Lab, we plan to develop and conduct a variety of experiments in virtual environments focusing on redirected walking and engagement with interactive virtual characters. As part of these efforts, an intern could assist in development of software for recording and processing user study data as a result of these experiments.
Job Description
• Develop control software that launches the appropriate virtual environment according to an established experimental protocol.
• Develop software data probes for recording the conduct of the participant, event timestamps, and participant motion.
• Develop web based surveys for pre- and post-experiment questionnaires.
• These applications should correlate and process data from different experimental subjects, generating formatted data for analysis in SPSS or other statistical tools.
Qualifications:
• Software development skills in Java, C/C++, or scripting languages like Lua or Python is required.
• Experience with source code repositories such as CVS, SVN, or similar is required.
• Familiarity with 3D software libraries/game engines like OpenGL, Panda3D, Gamebryo, or OpenSceneGraph.
• CS, EE, or related major.
• A background in human computer interaction and familiarity with user studies, experiment design, and basic statistical analysis is a plus.
