Project Description
The goal of this project is to provide real-time situational awareness to combat arms units in complex environments by capturing a comprehensive view of a battlefield. Specifically, we plan to perform holistic scene understanding using multiple heterogeneous platforms (ground & aerial) with multimodal sensors (e.g. visible/ thermal cameras, acoustics, etc.) distributed over a region of interest.

Job Description
The student’s work will involves developing AI&ML approaches for distributed learning on heterogeneous platforms with multi-modal data. This includes: a) Developing light-weight ML methods (classification, detection, tracking, etc.) that can operate in resource constraint environment. b) Developing deep learning based networks that can learn from each other by sharing local analytics results (classification labels, object bounding boxes, simple tracking data, etc.) from neighboring nodes and combining them at individual nodes for further refinements to provide improved scene understanding.
